The short version
Keep channel-specific behavior at the edge and business decisions in a shared service. Authenticate the person behind a message, check access to each record, separate conversation context and track confirmed actions. Start with one channel and add the second after the workflow is measurable.
Choose the business job before the channel
Take an illustrative internal operations assistant: a colleague asks where a shipment is, receives the current status and can request an escalation. Slack and Telegram are ways to reach that workflow. Neither chat interface should become the source of truth for the shipment record.
Begin where the intended users already work and where the organization can manage identity and access. Avoid launching both channels just to make the demonstration look complete. First prove that one connected workflow saves effort and handles exceptions.
Share the workflow, not every channel assumption
Keep message ingestion and formatting in channel adapters. Let a shared service perform identity checks, retrieve the shipment and execute allowed actions. This gives the team one place to maintain business rules while preserving each channel's behavior.
Slack's Events API expects an HTTP 2xx response to each event request within three seconds and, by default, retries a failed delivery up to three times; its documentation recommends handling inbound events through a queue. Telegram's documentation explains that what a bot receives depends on the chat type, whether the bot is a group admin and its privacy mode setting. Do not assume that a bot receives everything a person can see. These are documented platform considerations, not results of a deployment test.
A display name is not an authorization decision
Verify that each request really comes from the platform: Slack signs its requests, and a Telegram webhook can include a secret token you set. Map the authenticated channel identity to the organization's user identity through an explicit linking process, then check that user's permission for the requested shipment. Matching a familiar name or email typed into a conversation is not sufficient.
Scope working context to the organization, authorized user and conversation. A question in a group must not inherit private information from a different chat. If someone moves from Slack to Telegram, ask them to continue through an authorized handoff rather than copying the previous conversation into a new audience.
- Who is asking, and how was their account linked?
- Which organization and business record are involved?
- Who can see the reply in this channel?
- What happens when access is revoked or group membership changes?
Treat actions as tracked operations
Showing a shipment status and creating an escalation are different operations. For an escalation, show the proposed action, check permission at execution time and record the business operation identifier. Report completion only after the receiving system confirms it.
Repeated delivery of a message must not create repeated escalations. Record the platform's event identifier (Slack's event_id, Telegram's update_id) and the action identifier outside the model's conversation, and define how uncertain outcomes are investigated. The agent can summarize the situation; it should not invent a successful result because the user is waiting.
Launch one path, then extend it
Test with synthetic records and users who have different permissions. Include a repeated event, an unavailable business system, a revoked user and a request made in the wrong conversation. Make sure staff can locate and finish an unresolved item.
Measure completed tasks, operator intervention, response time and cost per completed task. Add the second channel only when the first workflow has a clear owner and acceptable results. UVISION can provide dedicated developers and managed projects for that ongoing work, with at least one full-time developer per project. Maintaining the connection to the critical system is part of the product, not a one-off bot installation.
